Position Summary: The Plumber shall carry out the work orders given by the Facilities Maintenance Lead. They are skilled workers and must be able to carry out all kinds of maintenance and repair work. Essential Duties & Responsibilities: All duties and responsibilities are to be performed in accordance with Royal Caribbean International’s The Royal Way, SQM standards, USPH guidelines, environmental, and safety policies. Each Island employee may be required to perform all functions in various service venues throughout the Island. In accordance with Royal Caribbean International’s philosophy of Anchored in Excellence , each employee conducts oneself in a professional and courteous manner at all times. This consists of physical and verbal interactions with guests or fellow Island employees and/or in the presence of guest contact and crew areas. Those assigned to the Plumber Position shall work with superiors and subordinates to understand and comply with the company’s environmental policies and be committed to safeguard the environment. He shall directly and immediately inform his immediate superior is any environmental system does not function properly. The Plumber shall carry out duties as instructed by the Facilities Maintenance Lead. He is responsible for the general overhauling and maintenance for all equipment related to the plumbing area, plus any other task assigned by Facilities Maintenance Lead or Assistant Site Engineer as required Responsible for the maintenance and repair of all piping related to the Island operations, such as fresh water, black water, grey water, pulper, drains, etc. Plus any other task assigned by Facilities Maintenance Lead or Assistant Site Engineer as required Repair and maintenance of the following equipment as assigned by the Facilities Maintenance Lead or Assistant Site Engineer, if required: Technical and plumbing equipment in galleys, bars and pantries Welding, including Gas, Electric, TIG, and MIG Lathe machine, milling machine and all common shop equipment General maintenance of plumbing and piping system within the Island areas of responsibility Cleaning and maintenance of the workshop and lockers as assigned by the Facilities Maintenance Lead. May be required to perform and/or assign additional routines and work descriptions as listed in the Planned Maintenance System if required from Facilities Maintenance Lead, Assistant Site Engineer or Site Engineer. Know, follow and enforce SQM policies. Attend mandatory crew safety meeting as required. Maintain and encourage the Anchored in Excellence credo at all times. Perform related duties as assigned by the Facilities Maintenance Lead and/or Assistant Site Engineer. Attends meetings, training activities, courses and all other work-related activities as required. Qualifications: Prior Plumbing, welding and machinist experience is preferred. Language Requirements: Ability to speak English clearly, distinctly and cordially. Ability to read and write English in order to understand and interpret written procedures. This includes the ability to give and receive instructions in written and verbal forms and to effectively present information and respond to questions to the supervisors and co-workers. Physical Demands: All island employees must be physically able to participate in emergency lifesaving procedures and drills. Full use/range of motion of arms and legs as well as full visual, verbal and hearing abilities are required to receive and give instructions in the event of an emergency. Must be able to stand in the sun and endure external elements during work assignment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to touch, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Work Environment: Outdoors may be required to walk in extreme humid and hot conditions.
