Job Description

Job Title: Safety & Security Technology Officer

Security Division

Core Functions:

  • Monitor operations of core security systems- including surveillance, access control, alarm scanning/ X-ray, vehicle tracking, communications, and associated systems- to promote operational availability in accordance with agreed service levels, day-to-day configuration, testing, and first-level onsite system maintenance.
  • Coordinate the engagement of vendors and service providers for scheduled and unscheduled equipment maintenance to promote high-level technology availability
  • Administer an ongoing technology training programme for the Security workforce to support continuous bench strength initiatives, including coordination of the Unit's Control Self Assessment framework
  • Coordinate-along with the Unit's leadership team-safety and security programmes, such as enterprise-wide emergency drills, in accordance with established standards including the monitoring and maintenance of technology associated with these activities which are heavily supported by safety and security systems
  •  Maintain familiarity with general operations of major facilities equipment and systems (fire suppression systems, energy management systems, utilities systems etc.) to ensure competence in relaying information and reacting appropriately to emergency and other incidents relating to such systems

Education & Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Management Information Systems, or equivalent from a recognized tertiary-level institution with a minimum of three (3) years experience in the security technology industry
  • Proven record of installing, configuring and maintaining surveillance and access control systems. Knowledge of scanning/ X-ray equipment and communications systems would be a benefit
  • General knowledge of incident management and reporting techniques
  • Proven record of administrating a robust security surveillance/access control regime
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Word and Excel, coupled with good writing and analytical skills to support report writing
  • Sound planning and organizing skills
  • Sound human relations skills
