Job Description

Job Title: Human Resource Specialist

The National Sports Authority (NSA) manages, operates and further develops the Queen Elizabeth Sports Centre and other public sports facilities throughout the Bahamas. As the largest operator of sports facilities, the NSA also encourages and promotes participation in sports and sporting events, as well as the achievement of excellent in competitive sports.

The Human Resource Specialist (HRS) reports directly to the General Manager and has full oversight of planning, directing and coordinating all HR activities, including functions such as employee compensation, training and development, recruitment, personal policies, and regulatory compliance. The HR Specialist will provide support to the management team and ensure that HR- related activities exceed the expectations of employees and enable business success.

Core Task:

  • Administer compensations, benefits and performance management systems, and safety and recreation programs
  • Analyze and modify compensation and benefits policies to establish competitive programs and ensure compliance with legal requirements
  • Plan, train, direct, supervise, and coordinate work activities of subordinated and staff relating to employment, compensation, labor relations, and employee relations
  • Provide clear directive and insight on internal development and growth
  • Serve as a link between management and employees by handling questions, interpreting and administering contracts and helping resolve work-related problems
  • Organize and distribute yearly employee survey's to identify gaps and areas of improvement in the overall organization
  • Identify staff vacancies and recruit, interview and select applicants
  • Advise managers on organizational policy matter such as equal employment opportunity and sexual harassment, and recommend needed changes remaining compliant with the Employment Act of The Bahamas


  • Associates's degree in human resources, business or a related field; Bachelor's degree preferred
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience as an HR generalist or supervisor
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience as a leader of the people
  • Clear understanding of the Employment Act and Data Protection Act
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
