Job Description

Job Title: Deputy General Manager

The National Sports Authority (NSA) manages, operates and further develops the Queen Elizabeth Sports Centre and other public sports facilities throughout the Bahamas. As the largest operator of sports facilities, the NSA also encourages and promotes participation in sports and sporting events, as well as the achievement of excellent in competitive sports.

The Deputy General Manager(DGM) reports directly to the General Manager and supports senior level managers in the planning, development and implementation of the company's operations. The DGM will oversee the day-to-day operations of the NSA and coordinate capital planning, facilities maintenance, administration and special projects.

Core Task:

  • Oversee the day-to-day operations and administration of the NSA
  • Lead the implementation of special initiatives and projects as outlined by the GM
  • Work with the management team to develop and implement required policies, procedures and internal controls in support of an efficient operation
  • Oversee the maintenance of all facilities to a world-class standard
  • Provide measurement tools to determine overall operating effectiveness and feedback on how to make improvements
  • Work closely with GM to foster a collaborative and high performing work environment
  • Review potential business opportunities and make recommendations to the GM on such opportunities
  • Conduct regular operational, staff and management meetings
  • Monitor all projects and prepare schedules within required time-frames and coordinate with managers and supervisors to evaluate all approvals
  • Review and respond, in conjunction with the HR Specialist, to any internal or external grievances 
  •  Provide support for management staff and ensure that they are on track to achieve their objectives
  • Work with the GM to develop a strategic finance and marketing plan


  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, economics, business or a related field; 
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in management roles with increasing responsibilities
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • High level of professionalism and demonstrated leadership skills
  • Excellent project management, negotiation and contract management skills
  • Strong ability to lead/ collaborate with various stakeholders towards common objectives and priorities
