Job Description

Job Title: General Manager

The National Sports Authority (NSA) manages, operates and further develops the Queen Elizabeth Sports Centre and other public sports facilities throughout the Bahamas. As the largest operator of sports facilities, the NSA also encourages and promotes participation in sports and sporting events, as well as the achievement of excellent in competitive sports.

The General Manager(GM) reports directly to the Board of Directors and is responsible for leading the organization's management team, is operations and finances. He/she will execute the company's strategic plan, placing priority on the development and maintenance of facilitates, improving utilization and participation, revenue generation and management. This role is ideally suited for a professional with prior facilities and operations management experience. The right candidate is a leader who is passionate about sports, collaborative and values excellent, accountability and service.

Core Task:

  • Drive new business, locally and internationally, to the facilities
  • Maintain facilities to a world-class standard, and lead the build-out of the site based on strategic priorities
  • Plan, develop, implement and communicate the operational strategies, procedures and processes
  • Direct the financial operations of the company with a view to increasing profitability and overall efficeincy
  • Create a data driven/ analytics-based organization that supports recreational and competitive sports and entertainment, in a broad sense
  • Negotiate contracts and agreements in the best interest of the company
  • Create and foster a culture of performance and accountability
  • Recruit, train, develop, reward and recognize leaders and employee
  • Establish and maintain effective relationships with various government agencies, sports media, sports federations, international partners, clients, and the wider community
  • Position NSA as a regional center of excellence for sports development and facilities management
  • Manage public relations and advertising to support the organization's strategic priorities and brand


  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Economics, business or a related field; MBA degree preferred
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in management roles with increasing responsibilities
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • High level of professionalism and demonstrated leadership skills
  • Prior responsibility in P & L management and budget oversight
  • Excellent project management, negotiation and contract management skills
  • Strong ability to lead/ collaborate with various stakeholders towards common objectives and priorities
