Job Description

Job Title: Electronic Communications- Assistant Regulatory Officer, Legal

The Utilities Regulation and Competition Authority ("URCA") is the independent regulator of the Electronic Communications Sector (comprising) broadcasting, radio spectrum and electronic communications) and the Electricity Sector in The Bahamas. URCA's mission is "improving lives through effective utilities regulations".

The successful candidate will be required to provide expertise and competency i the area of legal and market research, including applicable codes and regulations and performing tasks as assigned by the Director of Electronic Communications and /or Regulatory Managers.

Required Qualifications, Skills and Competencies:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Law from an accredited university/college; Masters in Law is an asset; and
  • Minimum of two years' work experience preferably in the electronic communications or energy industry, consulting, or utility regulation;
  • Experience preferably as in-house legal and or regulatory advisor gained in a competitive regulated industry, or direct experience of working for a multi-sectoral regulator is an advantage
