POSITION SUMMARY:
The Operations Driver is responsible for the safe operations of Guest trams and other operational vehicles which include but are not limited to forklifts, tractors, provision carts, and utility vehicles. The Driver provides safe, timely, and efficient driving services for the Guests, Visitors and fellow Team Members. Safety of passengers and pedestrians is always paramount when moving any vehicle at any time on the Destination.
This position requires excellent Guest engagement, professional appearance, knowledge of products and services. All duties and responsibilities are performed following Company’s Brand Standards, the Royal Way philosophy, Company policies, and SOPs, Public Health, Safety, Security, and Environmental Guidelines. All Team Members may be required to perform any other job-related duties assigned by their Supervisor or Management. The nature of this job requires daily interactions with internal and external stakeholders.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Always follows instructions, policies and procedures from the Management team to ensure safe driving while operating Guest trams and other operational vehicles on the pier and around the Destination.
• Ensures timely staging of provision vehicles and trollies to be ready for provisioning operation.
• Follows Destination’s provisioning procedures: pallets to be staged in loading order with a maximum height range of 48” to 54”. Knows safety protocols while driving on the pier and follows instructions from the Management.
• Delivers and collects all provisions to and from their designated locations following safe driving practices along the designated route during provisioning. Driver must be able to drive safely using a minimum of 5 trollies to deliver provisions.
• Collects, cleans and organizes trollies into a central storage location using vehicles and safe ergonomic practices where required. Removes any shrink wrap, papers, pallets, etc., from trollies and disposes in the appropriate locations.
• Actively participates in the maintenance, safety, and operation of the tractors, trolleys, and Guest trams. Reports any maintenance requirements to the Lead.
• Ensures safe transportation of Guests, Visitors and fellow Team Members on the trams. Always follows “Driving with Safety” procedures or any applicable safety policies or procedures.
• Uses safety spiels to encourage safe tram onboarding and disembarking by Guests, Visitors and Team Members.
• Immediately reports, and accurately prepares any written documents regarding driving safety concerns, incidents, accidents, and Guest issues as needed.
• Ensures vehicles are deemed safe, tested, well maintained, cleaned, and sanitized.
• Guides Guests, Visitors and Team Members on how to safely board and debark the trams. Assists Guests getting into the tram when required (ADA compliance vehicles for Guests in wheelchairs, Guests with baby strollers, etc.).
• Uses the tram microphone advising Guests of the next Destination and providing Destination information following the tram driver script as close as possible.
• Greets and welcomes Guests getting into the tram to make them feel welcome. Provides information to our Guests about locations, products, and experiences on the Destination.
• Uses tractors to collect, empty, clean and return dumpsters from their venues, to the appropriate disposal location and back using safe driving practices.
• Employs defensive driving techniques to safely maneuver designated driving route with pedestrian and vehicular movement.
• Adheres to a Company confidentiality agreement. Attends meetings, trainings, and work-related activities as required.
• Follows the Destination’s grooming standards. Ensures personal appearance, hygiene, and uniform appearance are always in accordance with Company policy. Maintains a safe and sanitary environment for Guests and the Team.
• Acknowledges and greets Guests, Visitors, and Team Members in public spaces with a warm, friendly greeting.
FINANCIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
• Maintains all vehicles, trollies and work tools in good condition.
• Reports any deficiencies immediately and ensures timely schedule of preventative maintenance with support of Technical Team
• Practices safe driving practices when transporting provisions, dumpsters, Guests, Visitors or Team Members to avoid any accidents or incidents.
QUALIFICATIONS:
• High School Diploma or equivalent vocational training
• Valid driver’s license with 5 years minimum driving experience.
• Class C Commercial Driver’s License is an advantage.
• An updated traffic record must show minimal (if any) traffic offenses.
• Documented experience working as a driver or driving a “wide-load” vehicle and tractor, or both preferred.
• Minimum 2 years’ experience in front facing customer contact role. Hospitality experience (e.g. hotel, resort or cruise ship) a bonus.
• Relevant Defensive Driving or Hospitality Skills certification is an advantage.
• Effective verbal communications skills. Good interpersonal skills and ability to communicate with VIPs, Guests, Management, Shipboard Crew, and Team Members in a friendly and professional manner.
• Ability to employ conflict resolution techniques to de-escalate guest concerns and resolve problems.
• Ability to work positively and cooperatively in a diverse international environment with little supervision.
LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS:
• Ability to speak English clearly, distinctly, and cordially with Guests, Team Members, and Visitors.
• Ability to read and write English, to understand and interpret written procedures. This includes the ability to give and receive instructions in written and verbal forms and to effectively present information, complete reports and respond to questions from Guests, Managers, and Team Members.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
• While performing the duties of this job, the Team Member is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to touch, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear; and taste and smell. The Team Member must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
• All Destination Team Members must be physically able to participate in emergency life-saving procedures and drills. Full use/range of motion of arms and legs as well as full visual, verbal, and hearing abilities are required to receive and give instructions in the event of an emergency.
• Ability to comfortably sit behind the wheel of a vehicle with a full range of motion and ability to react to emergency situations in a safe manner.
• Practice safe driving while keeping all body parts within the vehicle.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
• Destination outdoor environment where high temperature, precipitation, and humid temperatures are experienced.
• While performing the duties of this job, the Team Member is required to work outdoors in extremely humid and hot conditions for an extended period.
• This is a position where duties are exercised outdoors, walking/driving in sand, and over uneven surfaces.
• While performing the duties of this job, the Team Member is required to work and drive outdoors in rain or windy conditions within safe parameters.
