JOB SUMMARY

The Restaurant Manager is responsible for managing the restaurant’s daily operations, ensuring customer satisfaction, maintaining high standards of food quality, service, and cleanliness, and overseeing staff performance. The manager plays a key role in financial management, staff development, and regulatory compliance.

 ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

A Restaurant Manager oversees the daily operations of a restaurant, ensuring seamless customer experience while maintaining efficient staff performance and operational standards. The role typically involves a blend of management, leadership, and administrative duties. Responsibilities of a Restaurant Manager are, but are not limited to: -

 Operations Management:

  • Oversee day-to-day restaurant operations to ensure smooth functioning.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and hygiene standards.
  • Coordinate food and beverage service to ensure timely and high-quality delivery.
  • Manage inventory and supplies, placing orders as necessary.

Staff Management:

  • Recruit, train, and supervise restaurant staff, including servers, cooks, and bartenders.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and offer training or corrective measures when needed.
  • Develop staff schedules to optimize labor while ensuring adequate staffing during peak times.
  • Promote teamwork and provide leadership by establishing a positive work environment.

Customer Service:

  • Ensure all customers receive excellent service and resolve any complaints or concerns in a timely manner.
  • Actively engage with customers to gather feedback and implement improvements.
  • Monitor customer satisfaction and implement strategies to enhance guest experience.

Financial Management:

  • Prepare and manage the restaurant’s budget and financial performance.
  • Monitor costs and control waste, ensuring efficient use of resources.
  • Handle cash, credit transactions, and manage financial reporting.
  • Analyze sales trends and forecast future needs.

Marketing and Promotions:

  • Collaborate with the marketing team to promote the restaurant and drive customer traffic.
  • Plan and execute special events, promotions, and seasonal offerings.
  • Develop strategies to increase customer retention and attract new clientele.

Compliance and Safety:

  • Ensure the restaurant meets all legal requirements, including food safety, sanitation, and health regulations.
  • Maintain accurate records related to licensing, employee certifications, and inspections.
  • Implement emergency procedures for staff and customers in case of accidents or safety issues.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, Business Administration or Hospitality field is a plus.
  • 2 years or more experience.
  • Proven experience as a Restaurant Manager or similar
  • Understanding of restaurant financials, including budgeting, P&L statements, and cost control.
  • Hotel, resort & hospitality Finance business administration experience are a plus.
  • Excellent customer service and problem-solving abilities.
  • Very good knowledge of legislation and regulations of the field.
  • Proficient in MS Office and good knowledge of Restaurant management software (e.g. Micros)
  • Food Safety and ServSafe certification (or equivalent).
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Trustworthy with attention to confidentiality.
  • Outstanding organizational ability with great attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Have knowledge of financial tools such as Opera, spreadsheet software, accounting software and enterprise resource planning systems Is a plus.
  • Strong understanding of financial principles and techniques

 Physical Requirement

  • Be able to sit at a desk for prolonged periods of time, looking at the computer.
  • Must have the stamina to work extended hours.
  • Ability to stand for long periods, lift up to 50 pounds, and perform physically demanding tasks as required.
