Job Summary:

The IT Supervisor oversees the operations of the IT department. The IT Supervisor supervises employees and contractors that are responsible for upgrading and maintenance of the company’s computer systems, including databases, mainframe systems, installing and implementing new systems, data communication networks and software programs. The IT Supervisor is responsible for hiring, training, and evaluating IT staff, assignment of tasks and arranging project schedules. The IT Supervisor performs assessments on site systems to ensure proper operations and to identify any issues that need to be addressed.

 

He/She will install computer hardware and software, update applications and perform diagnostic tests and maintenance on computer components along with responsibility for maintenance of IT documentation and any other IT related activities on site (server and network infrastructure, end user computing devices, IT security, application deployments and upgrades, and advanced troubleshooting etc.,). Standard tasks involve interacting with Active Directory, SCCM, EPO, MDM enrollment and support, Wifi and VoIP troubleshooting and IT documentation. They will also interact with shoreside support teams through Incident, Change and Service Request tickets using email, chat and phone support. The IT Technician also interacts with other departments through Incident, Change and Service Request tickets using email, chat and phone support.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The IT Supervisor is responsible for, but not limited to the following:

 

Manage IT Staff and Operations

  • Responsible for hiring and training staff
  • Responsible for setting work schedules and establishing IT department procedures.
  • Responsible for all aspects of the operations of the IT department.
  • Responsible for arranging ongoing staff training and professional development, creating work assignments, assembling installation teams.
  • Manage a team of IT technicians supporting data center and end user operations
  • Maintain a positive working relationship with fellow managers, employees, support teams and visiting technicians
  • Continuously improve the IT team’s technical and customer service skills, contribute to IT knowledge base articles and join in collaborative discussions
  • Oversees Help Desk operations and perform employee evaluations.

 

Install and Maintain Computer Systems

  • Supervises the IT team that installs and maintains the company's internal network and computer systems.
  • Maintenance and administration of network equipment, PCs, POS Terminals, laptops, tablets, mobile
  • phones and other end user computer equipment
  • Analyze the company's technology needs, develop systems and software, implement hardware and software, conduct tests, and maintain ongoing operations of all systems.

 

Ensure Data Recovery

  • Responsible for creating and maintaining a disaster recovery plan for corporate data and systems.
  • Assess data risk factors.

 

Upgrade Existing Technology

  • Evaluate the company's IT systems and determine the need for upgrades.
  • Monitor information about upgrades to specific systems and schedule upgrades as needed.
  • Manage specific aspects of project opening and conduct quality control checks of new technology or enhancements to existing systems to ensure desired operability
  • Maintain the inventory for IT equipment and place requests for needed items
  • Developing technological procedural and operations manuals.
  • Assist the Site Engineer with tasks as requested.

 

EDUCATION & QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology or a related field preferred.
  • Certifications in the technical field, such as Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP), Linux or Cisco networking certification.
  • At least two years minimum experience with direct customer IT support.
  • Experience with networked device management using Cisco and Aruba routers, switches, and wireless access points.

 

SKILLS & SPECIFICATIONS:

  • Microsoft Office
  • Proficiency with Cisco, Microsoft, and Linux
  • Knowledge of IT industry standards for security and anti-virus best practices
  • Knowledge of computer operating, software and other systems.
  • Understanding of most recent computer system upgrades.
  • Strong communication, analytical, organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong execution skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and take a structured approach.
  • Strong time management and troubleshooting skills.
  • Thorough understanding of computer systems and functions.
  • Troubleshooting skills in Windows operating systems and Microsoft Office software
  • Knowledge of business operations, such as financial and personnel management.
  • Knowledge of project management practices and processes, such as scheduling, budgeting, and meeting deadlines.

 

LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS: 

  • Ability to speak English clearly, distinctly, and cordially with employees and guests.
  • Ability to read and write English to understand and interpret written procedures. This includes the ability to give and receive instructions in written and verbal forms and to effectively present information and respond to questions from guests, managers, and co-workers.

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: 

  • Must be physically fit.
  • Must have strong customer service skills.
  • Ability to work in an outdoor environment.
  • Ability to multi-task and think critically.
  • Previous work experience preferred.

 

OTHER REQUIREMENTS: 

  • Work primarily in a climate-controlled environment with minimal safety/health hazard potential.
  • Work may require employee to work inside and outside with exposure to changing climate and/or operate machinery.
  • May be required to work shifts.
