Lead Carpenter

Minimum Experience: Manager/Supervisor

Job Summary:

The Carpenter Lead is a professional who is responsible for assigning work to the carpentry team. Responsibilities include working with wood to build and repair structures and other items on site and working on projects as required.

  

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 The Carpentry Lead is responsible for, but not limited to the following:

Operation and Team Management

  • Oversee project crews in carpentry work required for the maintenance, repair, and alteration of buildings and structures.
  • Assist supervisor in matters deserving attention regarding carpentry work.
  • Assist in the supervision/operation of the carpentry shop and assigned personnel, as directed.
  • Assist in the coordination of carpentry shop work with that of other trades.
  • Instruct and direct laborers and other construction helpers.
  • Measuring, cutting, and joining materials made of wood or wood substitutes.
  • Be able to perform all duties of carpenter or finish carpenter, following recognized procedures/techniques for such work, as required.
  • Adhere to the company’s standards regarding safety wear on site.
  • Follow correct reporting procedures if faced with issues. Follow all safety regulations during duty and provide first aid support if required.
  • Ensuring that all wood structures are Inspected daily, weekly, monthly and annually.
  • Assessing damages and making necessary repairs
  • All other duties requested by Supervisor or Site Engineer

 

EDUCATION & QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience working in a Carpentry/maintenance environment in a hotel or related industry.
  • Must be fluent in conversational English.

 

SKILLS & SPECIFICATIONS:

  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong carpentry skills and understanding

 

 LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS: 

  • Ability to speak English clearly, distinctly and cordially with employees and guests.
  • Ability to read and write English in order to understand and interpret written procedures. This includes the ability to give and receive instructions in written and verbal forms and to effectively present information and respond to questions from guests, managers and co-workers.

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be physically fit.
  • Must have strong customer service skills.
  • Ability to work in an outdoor environment.
  • Ability to multi-task and think critically.
  • Previous work experience preferred.

 

OTHER REQUIREMENTS: 

  • Work primarily in a climate-controlled environment with minimal safety/health hazard potential.
  • Work may require employee to work inside and outside with exposure to changing climate and/or operate machinery.
  • May be required to work shifts.
