Job Summary:

The Waste Management Technician is a professional who is responsible for complying with all rules and procedures associated with the treatment and disposal of liquid and hazardous waste in a safe and responsible manner.

  

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The is responsible for, but not limited to the following:

  • Assist with waste collection and processing on site,
  • Planning, preparation and setup of guest activities and events.
  • Follows all compliance and safety regulations associated with proper waste disposal.
  • Operates, maintains, troubleshoots, and coordinates repair of a wide variety of electrical, mechanical, and heavy equipment.
  • Process hazardous materials (including hazardous wastes) which includes testing, categorization, bulking and lab packing, and preparing hazardous waste shipping documents.
  • Writes reports of inspections, investigations, or incidents and documents activities.
  • Adhere to the company’s standards regarding safety wear on site. Follow all safety regulations during duty and provide first aid support if required.
  • Follow correct reporting procedures if faced with issues.
  • Provides training and makes recommendations on changes to procedures.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by Supervisor or designee.

 

EDUCATION & QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Technical/waste certification required.
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience working in a technical maintenance environment in a hotel or related industry
  • Must have a current driver’s license.
  • Fluency in conversational English,

 

SKILLS & SPECIFICATIONS:

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong Microsoft office suite skills.
  • Must be physically fit.
  • Must have excellent customer service skills.
  • Must have excellent communication and planning skills.
  • Ability to work in an outdoor environment.
  • Ability to multi-task and think critically.
  • Previous work experience preferred.

 

LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS: 

  • Ability to speak English clearly, distinctly, and cordially with employees and guests.
  • Ability to read and write English to understand and interpret written procedures. This includes the ability to give and receive instructions in written and verbal forms and to effectively present information and respond to questions from guests, managers, and co-workers.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: 

  • Must be physically fit.
  • Must have strong customer service skills.
  • Ability to work in an outdoor environment.
  • Ability to multi-task and think critically.
  • Previous work experience preferred.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS: 

  • Work primarily in a climate-controlled environment with minimal safety/health hazard potential.
  • Work may require employee to work inside and outside with exposure to changing climate and/or operate machinery.

May be required to work shifts.
