Job Summary:
The Assistant Entertainment oversees the daily operations of the entertainment department at Celebration Key Cruise Destination. This role involves supervising entertainment staff, coordinating events and activities, and ensuring that all entertainment offerings meet high standards of quality and guest satisfaction. The Assistant Entertainment will work closely with the Entertainment Manager to deliver engaging and memorable experiences for guests.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Assistant Entertainment Manager is responsible for, but not limited to the following:
Operation and Team Management
- Assist in the coordination and execution of entertainment events, including live performances, themed parties, and interactive activities.
- Help create and manage staff schedules to ensure adequate coverage for all entertainment activities.
- Address any scheduling conflicts or staffing issues promptly and efficiently.
- Ensure that all entertainment activities are set up, executed, and broken down according to established procedures.
- Manage day-to-day technical operations of entertainment performances (special lighting and effects, audio, staging, etc).
- Supervise team to ensure tasks are completed punctually and efficiently.
- Assist in training new entertainment staff and provide ongoing support to ensure adherence to service standards and protocols.
- Monitor entertainment activities and guest engagement.
- Ability to host events as required.
- Assist with general requests for information, assistance and/or complaints from guests and escalate to Guest Experience Manager or relevant Department Head.
Compliance & Quality Control
- Uphold environmental policies and procedures.
- Promote a safe work environment; Comply with the safety competencies and all company policies.
- Adhere to the company’s standards regarding dress and appearance.
- Extend appropriate greeting to all guests and crew at every opportunity using their names.
- Always apply hospitality standards.
- Follow all safety regulations during duty.
- Follow all environmental, company and HESS policies and procedures as applicable for the position.
- Contribute ideas for new entertainment concepts and improvements to enhance the guest experience.
- Assist in the development and implementation of new entertainment initiatives and special projects.
Reporting & Maintenance
- Complete work logs and report any issues to the Entertainment Manager or relevant Department Head.
- Assist the Entertainment Manager in analyzing reports to assess the effectiveness of entertainment programs.
- Acquiring and maintenance of all performance contracts and timelines.
- Advise any guest challenges immediately to the Entertainment Manager.
EDUCATION & QUALIFICATIONS:
- Associate or bachelor's degree in hospitality management, Business Administration, or a related field preferred
- Minimum of 2-4 years of experience in entertainment or hospitality, with at least 1-2 years in a supervisory role.
- Experience in event coordination and team management is highly desirable.
- Proven ability to manage and coordinate with external partners effectively.
- Strong leadership and supervisory skills, with the ability to manage and motivate a diverse team.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a focus on guest interaction and satisfaction
- Creative and enthusiastic approach to entertainment, with a passion for delivering exceptional guest experiences.
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities, with attention to detail.
- Ability to handle high-pressure situations and adapt to changing priorities.
- Exceptional customer service and communication skills.
- Experience in a cruise or resort environment is highly desirable.
- Fluency in conversational English.
SKILLS & SPECIFICATIONS:
- Strong knowledge of technical skils including but not limited to Audio Visual and Lighting
- Strong Microsoft office suite skills.
- Hands-on experience leading preventive maintenance efforts, asset management, failure mode and effects analysis.
- Excellent leadership, analytical, time-management, problem-solving project management, organizational and people management skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, attention to details and customer service skills.
LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to speak English clearly, distinctly, and cordially with employees and guests.
- Ability to read and write English to understand and interpret written procedures. This includes the ability to give and receive instructions in written and verbal forms and to effectively present information and respond to questions from guests, managers, and co-workers.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be physically fit.

- Ability to work in an outdoor environment.

- Previous work experience preferred.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to host events as required.
- Fast-paced, dynamic environment with a need for flexibility in working hours, including weekends, evenings, and holidays.
- Work may require employee, to work inside and outside with exposure to changing climate and/or operate machinery.
May be requested to work a different shift.
