Environmental Lead

Department: Operations

Employment Type: Full-Time

Minimum Experience: Manager/Supervisor

Job Summary: 

The Environmental Lead plays an integral role in ensuring that organizations adhere to environmental laws and regulations, while also striving to minimize their ecological footprint. The Environmental Lead is responsible for overseeing the development, implementation, and monitoring of environmental strategies that promote sustainable practices within the workplace. The Environmental Lead coordinates with different departments to ensures that all operations are conducted in an environmentally responsible manner, aiming to reduce waste, conserving resources, and improving the overall environmental performance of the organization. The Environmental Lead help the company comply with legal standards and foster a culture of environmental awareness and responsibility among employees, thereby contributing to the broader goal of environmental conservation.

  

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

The Environmental Lead is responsible for, but not limited to the following: 

  • Overseeing the implementation and maintenance of an organization’s environmental management system to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal environmental laws and regulations.
  • Developing and implementing strategies for pollution control, waste management, and resource conservation to minimize environmental impact.
  • Designing and organizing water quality reclassification studies.
  • Completing incident investigations.
  • Coordinate with various departments to integrate environmental considerations into business operations and project planning.
  • Lead environmental risk assessments to identify potential environmental hazards and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Facilitate environmental training programs for employees to enhance awareness and ensure adherence to environmental policies and procedures.
  • Liaise with government agencies, environmental organizations, and the public on issues related to environmental compliance and sustainability initiatives.
  • Managing self-inspection programs.
  • Assist the HESS Manager with tasks as requested.

 

EDUCATION & QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Associate degree preferred.
  • 2+ years’ experience in environmental management
  • Administrative experience preferred.
  • Minimum 1-2 years’ experience working in a environmental management or related industry
  • Fluency in conversational English.

  • Proficiency in the use of computer business applications, with working knowledge of computerized accounting and payroll systems.

LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS:  

  • Ability to speak English clearly, distinctly, and cordially with employees and guests.  
  • Ability to read and write English to understand and interpret written procedures. This includes the ability to give and receive instructions in written and verbal forms and to effectively present information and respond to questions from guests, managers, and co-workers. 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:  

  • Must be physically fit.
  • Must have strong customer service skills.
  • Ability to work in an outdoor environment.
  • Ability to multi-task and think critically.
  • Previous work experience preferred.  

 

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:  

  • Work primarily in a climate-controlled environment with minimal safety/health hazard potential.
  • Work may require employee to work inside and outside with exposure to changing climate and/or operate machinery.
  • May be requested to work a different shift.
