Marine Operations Supervisor

Job Summary: 

The Marine Operations Supervisor oversee daily marine operations and ensure compliance with maritime laws and regulations. The Marine Operations Supervisor manages and coordinates the activities of marine personnel, including scheduling and training. The Marine Operations Supervisor implements and maintains safety protocols and environmental protection measures.

  

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

The Marine Operations Supervisor is responsible for, but not limited to the following: 

 Operation and Team Management

  • Conduct regular inspections of vessels and equipment.
  • Creating and managing team schedules, issues, and disputes.
  • Follow all site safety requirements to ensure the safety and wellbeing management of all stakeholders.
  • Monitoring productivity and providing feedback.
  • Coordinate with various departments to ensure smooth and efficient operations.
  • Providing reports on works completed.
  • Oversee daily marine operations and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
  • Supervise and manage the marine crew, including training and performance evaluations.
  • Develop and implement maintenance schedules for marine vessels.
  • Assist the Operations Manager with tasks as requested.

 

Compliance & Quality Control 

  • Uphold environmental policies and procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and sanitation regulations, including proper use of cleaning chemicals and equipment.
  • Promote a safe work environment; Comply with the safety competencies and all company policies.
  • Adhere to the company’s standards regarding dress and appearance.
  • Extend appropriate greeting to all guests at every opportunity using their names.
  • Follow all safety regulations during duty.
  • Follow all environmental, company and HESS policies and procedures as applicable for the position.

 

Reporting & Maintenance

  • Complete work logs and report any issues to the Operations Manager.
  • Assist with management and maintenance of all units and common spaces on site.
  • Report all repairs to be made in assigned section, especially safety related issues and follow-up with management as necessary.
  • Advise any employee or security challenges immediately to the Operations Manager.

 

EDUCATION & QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Certification in marine operations or safety, such as STCW (Standards of Training, Certification, and Watchkeeping) or similar, is preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in marine operations, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or management role.
  • Fluency in conversational English,
  • Guest Facing Experience
  • Customer service experience gained in a similar role is required.

 

SKILLS & SPECIFICATIONS: 

  • Strong knowledge of maritime regulations, safety procedures, and operational best practices.
  • Proven experience in managing marine staff, coordinating operations, and handling incidents.
  • Excellent leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to make decisions under pressure and handle multiple tasks efficiently.
  • Proficiency in standard office software and marine management systems.
  • Proficiency in the use of computer business applications, with working knowledge of computerized accounting and payroll systems.
  • Excellent leadership and management skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in using marine navigation and communication equipment.
  • Ability to conduct risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficiency in using computer software for reporting and record-keeping.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage budgets and allocate resources effectively.
  • Knowledge of maintenance procedures for marine vessels.
  • Ability to coordinate with various departments and external agencies.
  • Strong understanding of weather patterns and their impact on marine operations.
  • Ability to train and mentor crew members.
  • Strong understanding of cargo handling and storage procedures.
  • Ability to respond to emergencies and coordinate emergency response efforts.
  • Willingness to work irregular hours and be on call as needed.

 

LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS:  

  • Ability to speak English clearly, distinctly, and cordially with employees and guests.  
  • Ability to read and write English to understand and interpret written procedures. This includes the ability to give and receive instructions in written and verbal forms and to effectively present information and respond to questions from guests, managers, and co-workers. 

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:  

  • Must be physically fit.
  • Must have strong customer service skills.
  • Ability to work in an outdoor environment.
  • Ability to multi-task and think critically.
  • Previous work experience preferred.  

 

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:  

  • Work primarily in a climate-controlled environment with minimal safety/health hazard potential.
  • Work may require employee to work inside and outside with exposure to changing climate and/or operate machinery.
  • May be requested to work a different shift.
