Main Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Monitors, operates, and maintains equipment as well as performs regular preventive maintenance and repairs to ensure facilities are operating as designed for Reverse Osmosis Plants, Wastewater Plants, Lift Stations or any other equipment under the responsibility of PIU.
  • Regularly performs water quality analysis to ensure chemical residuals are meeting treatment targets and makes chemical dosing changes to maintain residual goals.
  • Repairs plumbing, repair and replacing of piping or valves and other pieces of equipment related to Paradise Island Utilities Processes to include Sewer Lift-Stations, Wastewater Treatment Plants, RO Plants and Distribution and Collection Systems including large main emergency repairs.
  • Performs or assists with preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on filters, clarifiers, pumps, bar screens, digesters, membranes, chemical feed systems and all other associated equipment related to Sewer Lift-Stations, Wastewater Treatment Plants and RO Plants, as well as troubleshooting equipment and making necessary repairs.
  • Maintains daily logs, reports and correspondence with teammates and supervisory staff.
  • Assists with chemical handling, transport, and transfers.
  • Monitors and maintains all water storage tanks and associated equipment to ensure tank levels are maintained and Distribution system pressure and flows are maintained.
  • Reads water meters when needed.
  • Makes decisions and controls equipment that can affect public health as well as business levels for all of Paradise Island.
  • The Company operates a twenty-four (24), hour, seven (7) days a week business. Therefore, it may be necessary to change the accustomed shifts, at times, as the business demands.
Paradise Island Utilities provides an essential service that must be maintained to the best of the Utilities' abilities. All staff members may be asked to assist with other departments to ensure the continued operation of water and sewer services to the island to include emergency call-ins when needed

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Minimum High school diploma or equivalent vocational training
  • Ability to write routine reports, keep logs, and correspondence with others
  • Minimum 1-year formal training in Electrical, Plumbing, Mechanical or other Utilities systems; two years formal work experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, safety awareness information, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals and SOP's. Ability to communicate effectively with customers and fellow workers.
