Compass Solar Systems Limited (“Compass Solar”) is seeking a Solar Site Superintendent for the construction of commercial and utility scale solar systems in the Bahamas and the Caribbeans. The Solar Site Superintendent is responsible for day-to-day resource planning, schedule management, health and safety, quality control and customer relations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead multi-disciplinary project teams including direct staff, consultants, contractors and other third parties.
- Develop safety plans and manage schedules and resource
- Liaise with owner’s engineers and site representatives to ensure project delivery with a high regard for safety, quality, and the environment.
- Oversee Safety practices and ensure all safety documentation is completed each morning and the end each day
- Coach and mentor project team members and ensure teams are working efficiently
- Work closely with development, operations and asset management to ensure successful interfaces between the different phases of projects.
- Effectively report project status and progress to senior management, through Daily, Weekly and Monthly reports.
- Create, maintain and contribute to a positive, inclusive and engaging work environment.
- Coordinate with site personal to ensure daily projects tasks are executed in safe and timely manner.
- Oversee all work completed and ensure it adheres to all respective codes, spec’s and Quality control requirements.
- Assist Electricians with site testing and commissioning. Populate all testing documents, confirm all testing meets requirements and is completed in safe manner.
- Travel and on-site presence required.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Skills, Knowledge, Qualifications and Experience:
- Minimum 10 years of construction experience with 3-5 years in supervisor position.
- Electrician background considered and asset. Alternate combination of suitable education and work experience will be considered.
- Demonstrated supervisory capabilities (safety, scheduling, reporting, etc) and construction knowledge. PMP or other project management credentials considered an asset.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to effectively lead a team.
- Strong organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrated work-ethic and willingness to learn.
