Main Duties and responsibilities:
  • Manages the department which includes planning, organizing, scheduling, and directing of the work force in accordance with the terms of the current collective agreement.
  • Responsible for administrative and departmental personnel functions such as hiring, firing, transferring, promotions, orientation, performance evaluations and counseling etc in conjunction with the Sr. management team.
  • Ensures employees are trained and work within recognized productivity, quality and safety standards and maintains ongoing programs to ensure that each employee meets or exceeds those standards.
  • Prepares and executes training for departmental management for improved safety, productivity and staff knowledge.
  • Responsible for the development, implementation and review of policies, procedures, data collection, department records and operational records.
  • Researches, evaluates and where appropriate implements new techniques, procedures and equipment suitable for use within the department to improve productivity and efficiency.
  • Responsible for scheduling of department's personnel in accordance with the projected occupancy and business activities to ensure the utmost operating efficiency is consistent with optimum service and quality.
  • Participates in department head meetings and all other such meetings required for the day to day operation of the hotel and department.
  • Liaises with client and support departments to ensure satisfaction of service from the Laundry Department and also for the necessary support and services provided to the Laundry.
  • Daily scrutiny of production reports and follows up on discrepancies.
  • Prepare and analysis weakly payroll ensuring submission on timely fashion.
  • Ensure all benefits discrepancies as it relates to sick and vacation payments are resolved in a timely manner.
  • Conducts bi-monthly inventories for all operators. And manage the injection process.
  • Ensure that budget lines are met as it relate to personals and expenses.
  • Ensures a complete understanding of and adheres to the policies within the Employee Handbook.
  • Maintains a sound knowledge of the Company's facilities and related services.
  • Performs other reasonable duties requested by the Sr. Director.
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's in hospitality management or related field
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Management of 20 plus employees for a minimum of3 years. Supervisory experience with two of these years managing a Laundry processing in excess of 3 million pounds per annum.
  • Must have good interpersonal and communicational skills.
  • Must be fluent in spoken and written English.
  • Must have sound knowledge of processing equipment.
  • Must have good problem solving skills.
  • Must be able to interpret and work within the collective agreement.
  • Must be able to work under pressure.
