Reports to:       Assistant Director of Finance

 

Grand Hyatt at Baha Mar’s Chief Accountant will work together with the Assistant Director of Finance in managing Staff Accountants and Accounts Payable departments as they relate to the service of the financial reporting and transactional accounting of Grand Hyatt’s operations.

What you will also have already accomplished: 

  • CollegeDegree in Finance/Accounting, Business Administration, or related field preferred
  • 2+ years of work experience as a Chief Accountant or Senior Accountant in a large operation
  • Experience in handling all accounting functions: G/L, A/R, P/R, A/P, and Human Resources on a computerized system

Description of Responsibilities

Grand Hyatt at Baha Mar’s Chief Accountant will be responsible for managing Staff Accountants and Accounts Payable departments as they relate to the service of the financial reporting and transactional accounting of Grand Hyatt’s operations. Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Ensure optimum delivery of financial processes and services, balancing a pragmatic approach with the need to consistently deliver services to a standard of excellence
  • Supervise all accounting activities and provide guidance to accounting team members in all areas of work
  • Review detailed general ledger to ensure proper expense and income allocation while assisting the Director of Finance in preparation of all balance sheet schedules and reconciliations
  • Assist the Director of Finance in preparation of financial statements in compliance with all governmental and hotel regulations
  • Prepare the monthly bank reconciliation and journalize all relevant bank reconciling entries not otherwise booked
  • Verify that all necessary entries to the general ledger from the bank statement are made
  • Perform payroll calculations and record all matters relating to payroll withholding vacation, sick, and absence records
  • Review all accounts receivable (A/R) adjustments for approval by the Director of Finance ensuring that all adjustments have supporting documentation
  • Assistant the A/R team in month end procedures to close A/R, bill member statements, and produce other relevant A/R reports
  • Assist the A/R team in the collection of older accounts receivables and monitor the compliance with written collection procedures
  • Responsible for the recording and accurate filing of all fixed assets on the fixed asset ledger
  • Verify that all financial information from the various accounting subsystems is posted
  • Supervise and direct the reporting of expense account allocation
  • Responsible for all entries made (or posted) to the general ledger
  • Sign the G/L report for confirmation of review
  • Timely record the depreciation for all hotel assets
  • Assist the Director of Finance in preparation of other reports as needed
