The Catholic Board of Education is a school system grounded upon the fundamental principles of Christianity and the teachings of the Roman Catholic Church. All instruction within the Catholic Schools, therefore, must be rooted in the spiritual and moral precepts of the Church while meeting the highest academic standards. All teachers are expected to live and work in harmony with the religious aims and purposes of the Archdiocese of Nassau.
The Catholic School System commits itself to the following goals:
- To provide students with an education formation within a complete lifestyle of worship, work and play, that takes its meaning and thrust from the Gospel;
- To foster growth in personal holiness and relationship to Christ by teaching doctrine and sacraments; by encouraging effective Christian witness of service to others; and by developing a concern for bringing peace to a world by seeking to live the virtue of justice.
- To foster learning across disciplines and enhance skills, competencies and attitudes required for effective service to others;
- To aid in developing a strong positive self-concept, by providing a supportive environment based on mutual respect;
- To develop understanding of and to foster participation in the Bahamian and world communities; and
- To utilize new teaching and learning approaches in curriculum, methods and materials which respect learning styles.
