The Catholic Board of Education is a private school system comprised of eight schools. The system was established in 1889 and, thus, celebrates 132 years in The Bahamas in November of 2021. Providing a quality, faith-based education which is accessible to all was the basis of the first school being established and continues to be an important reason for the system's existence.
The schools under the jurisdiction of the Catholic Board are St. Cecilia School, St. Francis & Joseph School, St. Thomas More School, Xavier's Lower School and Aquinas College in New Providence; Mary Star of the Sea Catholic Academy in Grand Bahama; and St. Francis de Sales School and Every Child Counts in Abaco.
