Position Summary: The Technical Supervisor answers directly to the Island Staff Chief Engineer, and acts on behalf of the Island Staff Chief Engineer when the Island Staff Chief Engineer is not present on the island. Is responsible for the supervision of the day to day running of all things mechanical and electrical. They give out work rotations / schedules, supervises plant maintenance, answers any calls for mechanical or electrical assistance from other department managers, and work within the technical department as a Mechanical Engineer. Technical Supervisor is authorized to make and send Purchase Requisitions, and to veto or alter any requisition requests from other people, in the interest of budget restraints or any other good reason for safe operational practices. The Technical Supervisor is also authorized, (during the absence of the Staff Chief Engineer), to maintain weekly and monthly records. It is also incumbent on the Technical Supervisor to ensure all Standard Operating Procedures ( SOPs ) are being observed, and report to the Staff Chief Engineer or the Island Site Engineer. Physical Demands: All island employees must be physically able to participate in emergency lifesaving procedures and drills. Full use/range of motion of arms and legs as well as full visual, verbal and hearing abilities are required to receive and give instructions in the event of an emergency. Must be able to stand in the sun and endure external elements during work assignment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to touch, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Work Environment: Outdoors may be required to walk in extreme humid and hot conditions.
