Position Summary: All duties and responsibilities are to be performed in accordance with Royal Caribbean International’s brand standards, SQM standards, USPH guidelines, environment, and safety policies. The position of Island Technology Manager is responsible for the operational and technical aspects of IT operations on the Island supporting IT business systems and related equipment by providing knowledgeable support within the timeframes defined in Service Level Agreements. The position is also responsible for the tactical maintenance of communications systems, monitoring system performance and providing support to maintain maximum uptime of all supported systems. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Knowledgeable in all aspects of technology and IT operations including, but not limited to, procedures, server infrastructure, network infrastructure and telecommunications, primary and secondary satellite communications, workstations (desktops and laptops), portable devices and all associated peripherals. Escalates, reports, and tracks High and Critical issues to appropriate shoreside management. Monitors, analyzes, and reports on a regular basis, incident tickets of all priorities on the Island. Reviews, implements - where applicable, and ensures completion of all change requests for systems. Manages and realizes efficiencies in the budget as is related to Repair & Maintenance while balancing operational impact. Interfaces with Island division heads and shoreside operational areas, including GPS, serving as a professional ambassador for IT. Self-audits department for adherence to IT and Company policies, practices, and service levels including IT Compliance regulations. Provides after-hours support for IT-related issues. Responsible for logging all time and work as well as reviewing incident. Provide basic education for staff on site as it relates to work related programs. Financial Responsibilities Manages and realizes efficiencies in the budget as is related to Repair & Maintenance while balancing operational impact. Knowledge and Skills: Assembles and configures advanced network components. Working knowledge and experience with network security devices such as firewalls, proxies, and mobile device managers. Maintain Active Directory system by managing users, directories, and permissions. Completes standard, defined procedures for maintenance of servers and network infrastructure including, but not limited to, backups, patching, routine and preventative maintenance. Performs advanced troubleshooting to isolate and diagnose common problems. Ensures proper installation and provides first- and second-level support for all IT-supported PC's and peripherals, Internet Café workstations (Mac or PC), POS terminals, devices and peripherals. Interface with Island division heads and shoreside operational areas, including GPS, serving as a professional ambassador for IT. Contribute in the definition and execution of Island Infrastructure Support SOP’s. Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in computer science or similar IT qualification/experience. Minimum 3-year experience working in a hospitality environment (shoreside or shipboard) preferred. Exceptional oral, written and interpersonal communication skills required. Excellent problem solving and analytical skills. Proven shipboard experience working directly with internal/external customers. Must be a fast thinker and be able to make decisions under pressure. Language Requirements: Ability to speak English clearly, distinctly and cordially with guests. Ability to read and write English in order to understand and interpret written procedures. This includes the ability to give and receive instructions in written and verbal forms and to effectively present information and respond to questions from guests, supervisors and co-workers. Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to touch, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear; and taste or smell. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Work Environment: All employees must be physically able to participate in emergency procedures and drills. Full use and range of arms and legs as well as full visual, verbal and hearing abilities are required to receive and give instructions in the event of an emergency The employee must have the ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
